Presently, the ISS is a permanently manned long-term multi-purpose orbital complex representing a global partnership of 16 nations. These nations comprise Russia , USA , Canada , United Kingdom , France , Denmark , Spain , Italy , Germany , the Netherlands , Sweden , Switzerland , Belgium , Norway , Japan , and Brazil.

The ISS project helped to consolidate the political, economical and scientific resources, and cooperative efforts of all the participating nations.
